My Motivation Is Personal

And when I make this statement, I mean It. Because I remember it all.

So, let me share with you.

It was on April 10th of 2015.

In my mind, I see it as a congregation in a mass, a figure slightly above 500 sitting silently under a big tent intently listening to every speech presented to it.

And there, I sat, too.

I felt hopeful and delighted as our speakers delivered their colorful presentations.

They could not hide their sense of admiration and pride in our achievements.

Amid all of this, they resonated in one voice, one part of our life has ended, the other part it is upon each one of us to go out there, discover, and explore what the world has to offer.

In the back of our minds, it was so obvious, our lives will never be the same again. So, we all knew the future awaited us outside the gates of the institution.

To me, it aroused a feeling of awe - sort of a mixed reaction.

And deep inside, I could feel this vacuum of loneliness creeping in my guts.

Nonetheless, we graced the occasion. We threw our caps in the air. We shouted with happiness, joy, and embraced each other.

For those whose excitement could only be expressed by tears, they cried.

We also extended this happiness pheromone to our loved ones.

Our friends.

Our relatives.

And to all those who came to witness this eventful day from all parts of our motherland, Kenya.

To the world, with all our innocence we went conferred with the powers to read and write, a graduate class of 2015. For me, a solid graduate of BACHELORS OF COMMERCE, OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT OPTION.

But Still, I Had an Eerie Feeling of Emptiness Lingering in My Mind?

Back then, what I did not realize, I was a sailor sailing my ship against the unforeseeable roaring tide of life.

Meanwhile, because of my academic plaque, in the back of my mind, I felt more like Alexander the Great of Macedon after conquering the great Persia.

In fact, in Africa, we refer to such education success as the backbone of life. And the community celebrates you for this achievement. They embrace you. They expect great things to flow out of you.

It’s such an honorary feeling.

But the Life’s Reality Kicked In

Because I thought I had every tool to conquer the next new world, I was confident that within the first few months, if not weeks, I will be laughing all the way to the bank – at least I will be doing something useful with my life and rewarding the confidence the community had placed in me.

But when the reality kicked in, I felt more like I was stuck in a quagmire.

1-year down the line, after dishing my CV relentlessly, the harsh reality of life smacked my face so hard.

The response that I got back was nothing to a few dwindling hopes, not even a tad of commitment.

In the end, there was nothing except that hope of some pieces of paper inside my precious blue folder my uncle gave me during my graduation ceremony.

Sadly, during those moments, I felt like I was drowning.

The oxygen of hope was escaping out of my scuba tank super-fast.

And I was desperate.

Frustrated.

But even worse, I was a BROKE YOUTH with only wishes.

It was hard and painful to swallow the new reality.

Can you imagine the feeling and the emotional wreck I was going through?

But, amid all the confusion, I had a feeling there is something out there for me.

So, I opted to cringe on a feeble leaf.

Can you relate to the struggles I am talking about here?

Nevertheless, I needed something urgent

Also, my greatest fear was to languish like someone you may know.

So, by the fall of 2015, I knew it was one year down.

Many more were still to come.

Apparently, I felt that time was against me, and the world was not going to pat my back as I had confidently told my senses at the beginning of the year.

But...

What a sweet deal could I offer to this ruthless beast we call earth to cuddle me, embrace me, and leave me alone?

In these deranged moments, it dawned on me, I WAS A BUSINESS STUDENT MAJOR.

Can you imagine NOT KNOWING what you are BEST AT?

I couldn't believe that I was caught up in this confusion of staring and admiring at the grass on the other side of the ridge, just because it seemed greener.

Why will a whole trained OPERATIONS MANAGER waste in worries of unemployment?

That is when I embarked on a journey to create strategies to lull and tame Darwin's principle of natural selection before it permanently sentences me to rot in an infinite loop of job-seeking job, the rat race.

Henceforth, I decided:

And therefore, I began to re-learn the new order of the real world.

• I learned how to be me.
• How to unlock my potential.
• How to find my purpose in this life with already what I already have in my hands.

And That Is When A Baby Was Born

So, in June of 2016, after prolonged 9-months of endurance, testing, making mistakes, I launched BiasharaTalk.

It was an excitement I cannot hide from you, my dear reader.

Meanwhile, at that time, I had a partner.

He is a good friend of mine who was also swimming hard against the tide.

And so, we had to team-up to complement our skills.

For me, I took roles as a lead operations manager and site developer.

For him, he took roles as lead editor and head of content management.

Unfortunately, the partnership did not last to date.

But the real deal is, we found BiasharaTalk, and we still share a lot of business insights. All he did, he decided to venture into another form of onlinepreneurship. And, he has been successful, too.

So, what is The Deal About BiasharaTalk?

To begin with,

BiasharaTalk is a word forged from a Kiswahili word, BIASHARA, meaning business; an English word TALK - Just the usual English word meaning a conversation.

Together, they form BiasharaTalk.
